About

In 2013 I was invited to make work on a small island in the Seto Inland Sea, Japan. Expanding on ideas around orientation and positioning oneself in new environments, I decided to make 4 flags (in Japanese) for the north, south, east and west points of the island. I have continued to make work along these lines over the last few years.

At present I am making a series of placements of a 0m flag along the length of the tidal Thames. I have recently received funding to make work in Scotland, primarily to climb up to 1000m with a portable flag, but also due to poor weather I made a series of walks around Loch Torridon placing a 0m flag at various locations. The 'altitude' work also involves making maps for planning walks and the positions of the flags both real and proposed. I have also made sculptural work based on the mapped profile of 1000m peaks.

In 2017 I made a one off piece for the 'Annihilation Event' as well as curating a show in Futuro House in 2016 and in the last few years have made a series of 'small works' which place myself within or on structures.
